Achar Energy 2007 is announcing vacancy for the position of Operations Engineer (Shift Duty Engineer) / Technician

Location: Site-Based (Georgia- Batumi)

Position Overview
Achar Energy 2007 is seeking a skilled Operations Engineer (Shift Duty Engineer) or Technician to join our team. In this shift-working role, you will be responsible for SCADA monitoring, alarm management, and power generation control of a run-of-river hydro-power plant. Your focus will be on overall plant automation (DCS), equipment routine inspections, daily site control, executing safe LV/MV/HV electrical switching operations (maneuvers), and maximizing plant efficiency while ensuring strict safety compliance. We are looking for an adaptable and middle-experienced individual who is highly open to learning, follows supervisor instructions precisely, adheres strictly to plant procedures, and possesses strong communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Operations Engineer (Shift Duty Engineer) / Technician is responsible to:
  • Monitor real-time plant operations, DCS, and grid parameters during the shift.
  • Manage, log, and respond to plant alarms and system non-conformances immediately.
  • Execute safe LV/MV/HV electrical switching operations (maneuvers) according to protocols.
  • Conduct regular physical site controls and routine inspections of plant equipment.
  • Document daily operational activities, hourly shift logs, and generation data accurately.
  • Ensure a seamless, detailed, and professional handover process at the end of each shift.
  • Report technical faults, breakdown risks, and maintenance needs to supervisors promptly.
  • Follow emergency response procedures during grid failures, floods, or equipment trips.
  • Follow supervisor instructions precisely and adhere strictly to plant operating procedures.
  • Maintain clean and clear communication with team members and supervisor staff.
  • Adhere strictly to occupational health, safety (OHS), and environmental regulations.
  • Support maintenance teams during planned outages or plant restarts.
  • Any other operational duties as assigned.

Core Competencies
  • Technical skills in hydro-power plant automation (DCS/SCADA) and operations.
  • Technical learning capacity and willingness to adapt to a shift-work schedule.
  • Strong discipline in following precise professional instructions and plant operating procedures.
  • Proficiency in Turkish and a minimum of B1/B2 level in English to ensure effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, execute proper initial interventions during crises, and maintain clear, accurate communication with supervisors.
  • Quick problem-solving capabilities and rapid response times during plant alarms or emergency situations.
  • High situational awareness regarding electrical and mechanical risks.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative teamworking skills.
  • High attention to detail during routine inspections and shift data recording.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong time management skills necessary for shift rotations.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Hydro-power Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, OR a College Diploma in Automation/Electrical Technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of operational experience in power plants (preferably in hydro-power plants).
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA/DCS monitoring and real-time alarm management.
  • Proven ability to execute safe LV/MV/HV electrical switching operations (maneuvers).
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office applications for accurately logging and reporting shift data.
  • Must possess a valid Electrical Safety Qualification Group Certificate (Group/Level 3 minimum required, Group/Level 4 or higher preferred) in accordance with Georgian labor and energy safety regulations, or be eligible and willing to renew/re-certify if the previous certificate has expired.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is highly preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a continuous 12-hour shift rotation system (09:00-21:00 and 21:00-09:00).

Working Conditions
  • Continuous shift work based on a 12-hour rotation schedule (Day Shift: 09:00- 21:00 / Night Shift: 21:00 - 09:00), accordingg to shift duty schedule
  • Overtime may be required based on operational necessity.
  • Site-based role with physical movement required for routine plant inspections.
