German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (German Sparkassenstiftung) is implementing the project “Socio-ecological transformation of the rural MSME sector and sustainable financial services in Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan and Ukraine”. German Sparkassenstiftung aims to strengthen the economic participation of people in rural regions of project countries, in line with sustainable resource use, through adequate financial services and thus to contribute to improving life prospects in rural areas and to increasing resilience to external influences. Moreover, the project objective is to improve access to a sustainable financial market for the population and MSMEs in rural regions, enhance entrepreneurial skills of the dedicated target group and to strengthen the sustainable use of demand-oriented financial services.

Background information: The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (German Sparkassenstiftung) with the implementation of the project “Socio-ecological transformation of the rural MSME sector and sustainable financial services in Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan and Ukraine”.
German Sparkassenstiftung aims to strengthen the economic participation of people in rural regions of project countries, in line with sustainable resource use, through adequate financial services and thus to contribute to improving life prospects in rural areas and to increasing resilience to external influences. Moreover, the project objective is to improve access to a sustainable financial market for the population and MSMEs in rural regions, enhance entrepreneurial skills of the dedicated target group and to strengthen the sustainable use of demand-oriented financial services.
The project thus targets the following results:
Micro, Small and Medium entrepreneurs in the rural regions have been defined as an indirect target group on the demand side. Young adults, as future change agents in the partner countries, were added to this target group. Female entrepreneurs as well as female heads of households in rural regions were also included in the target group as they are particularly vulnerable.
Female entrepreneurs and female-headed households are a distinct subgroup targeted by the project. This assignment is entirely centered around their capacity building and business skills development. The aim is to support existing and/or potential female led MSEs and encourage active participation of women in business sector.
Viewing business activities via gender lens is crucial for the empowerment of women led enterprises. Combining gender-sensitive approach with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills can open up new gateways for business development. It is expected that as a result of this skills development program, our beneficiaries will be able to broaden their understanding of business operations, capitalize on unique opportunities offered to women-led enterprises, approach their sensitivities strategically and turn them into strengths wherever possible.

Assignment Description:
- The selected candidate for Gender Consultant shall develop content of training courses and self-study materials targeting women in business, for both active and potential entrepreneurs. Training content shall be on following topics:
- Entrepreneurial environment in Georgia for women: Opportunities and Challenges.
- Seeing business and development opportunities via gender lens.
- Significance of women in business and their economic contributions.
- Female headed households and household businesses.
- Gender disparities; How to overcome gender biases and stereotypes.
- Economic violence against women; Need for financial empowerment.
- Leadership and management skills for women led enterprises.
- Educational grants and assistance for potential and existing women entrepreneurs.
- Access to finance, state support programs and subsidies for women in business
- Risk appetite and management for female headed MSEs.
- Communication skills for women in business.
- Digital technologies as a tool for women economic empowerment.
- New gateways for women led businesses via e-commerce and digital technologies.
- Eco-friendly female-led enterprises
- Female headed business success stories as case studies.
Required qualifications:
- At least 3 years of progressive experience empowering and developing female headed households and/or businesses.
- Formal qualification (degrees, certification, training) and thorough understanding of gender-sensitive business programming and development.
- Experience developing training content with female target audience in mind, preferably on business development and/or management topics.
- Previous training facilitation experience preferred.

- The regulatory framework and the implementation of international and national guidelines on sustainable financing (ESG) have improved in at least two project countries.
